Change Log: pppsetup.tce
by William McEwan (mcewanw). Modifications Date: 1 May 2009
The following relate to modifications made in the directory hierarchy of the untarred pppsetup.tce (tested on TC v2.0rc1):
--------------
1. In usr/local/bin/pppsetup:
The default modem init string at line 495 is changed
from: echo 'The default modem init string will be: "AT\&FW1H0" OK' > /tmp/txtTEMP$$
to: echo 'The default modem init string will be: ATZ OK "ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 \&C1 \&D2 S11=55 \+FCLASS=0" OK' > /tmp/txtTEMP$$
[The latter is the default init string used very successfully on Puppy Linux official releases]
--------------
2. In usr/local/bin/pppsetup:
The default modem init string at line 899 is changed
from: echo '"" "AT\&FW1H0"' >> /etc/ppp/pppscript
to: echo '"" ATZ OK "ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 \&C1 \&D2 S11=55 \+FCLASS=0"' >> /etc/ppp/pppscript
--------------
3. In usr/local/bin/pppsetup added line:
1216 echo '-am' >> /etc/ppp/options
after existing line: 1215 echo "asyncmap 0" >> /etc/ppp/options
Notes:
a. Some ISP's (such as the one I use) won't connect without the -am option
b. If this addition doesn't work universally, users can later edit /etc/ppp/options file to remove the option.
--------------
4. In usr/local/tce.menu/pppsetup changed:
line 3
from: sudo /usr/local/bin/ppp-go
to: sudo /usr/local/sbin/ppp-go
--------------
Final Notes:
1. I haven't attempted incorporating pema's alterations for usb 3g dongles since that involved major pppsetup script changes and I don't have a usb 3g dongle for testing. The default script provided is for standard dialup modems.
2. I'm not using tclocal and found that I had to add usr/local/sbin/ppp-go to my /opt/.filetool.lst in order for ppp-go to be backed up; the alternative would be to change pppsetup to move ppp-go to /usr/local/bin instead of /usr/local/sbin, and change item 4 above accordingly.
3. I also had to add etc/ppp/ to my /opt/.filetool.lst so that ppp configs would be backed up.
