libmtpixel is a fork of mtPaint 3.14.42 with all of the GTK+ dependent code removed and a new application program interface (API) added to allow C programs to use mtPaint functions via a C library. This includes file operations, image manipulation, and pixel painting.

This package includes several examples such as drawing a graph, creating an animated GIF, a console based image manipulation program, and a CPU load monitor. There is also HTML documentation in ./doc/handbook/ which explains how to use the various functions provided by the library.

ROADMAP
-------

Version 0.01 - 0.89 Alpha status Features being added
Version 0.90 - 0.99 Beta status Feature freeze, bug testing, HTML documentation to be written
Version 1.00 Stable release Feature complete, bug tested, HTML docs completed

-----------
Compilation
-----------

The only hard dependency for compiling libmtpixel is a GNU development system (i.e. gcc and supporting headers), and libpng. However, the features are greatly enhanced if you have libjpeg, libtiff, libopenjpeg, libgif, libXpm and FreeType installed.

To compile and install libmtpixel, and the binary programs micmp, mifcon, and mlinload:

./configure
make
su -c "make install"

Use "./configure --help" to see what other compilation options are available. Once installed you can also test the other demonstration programs helloworld, magif, and mife by going into the relevant directory, reading the README, and running the program.

To uninstall the library and the programs you would use:

su -c "make uninstall"
