espeak.tcel build log

download source from: http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/espeak/espeak-1.40.02-source.zip

Unzipped, and then setup environment, and compiled with:

export CFLAGS="-march=i486 -mtune=i686 -Os -pipe"
export CXXFLAGS="-march=i486 -mtune=i686 -Os -pipe -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti"
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/lib/pkgconfig


In espeak src directory edited Makefile changing:

PREFIX=/usr to PREFIX=/usr/local

then ran

make -j3
make DESTDIR=/tmp/package install

In usr/local/lib:

removed static espeak libs etc (.a; .la)
stripped libs with strip -p --strip-unneeded

In usr/local/bin

stripped espeak binary with strip -p --strip-all

Added espeak setup script to usr/local/tce.installed containing:

# fix espeak not being able to find espeak-data
[ -e /usr/share/espeak-data ] || sudo ln -s /usr/local/share/espeak-data /usr/share/espeak-data

Finally, created espeak.tcel (and tczl) as per TC wiki instructions.
